Hair Care / Ruining My Life In Public

Two part durational video performance. In Hair Care, the artist brushes, washes, blow-dries, and braids the carefully arranged hair on her sculpture Hair Chair II. In Ruining My Life In Public, she repeatedly reenacts her own recurring dream in which a verbal conflict with a family member escalates to physical violence. At the end of each reenactment, the artist destroys a common household object. The improvised dialogue is sourced from memories of verbal conflicts that occurred with family members in her childhood home.
